Creating an ISO Disc Image

Though there are many Disc Image Creators available, MagicDisc from MagicISO is used here. MagicDisc is a free, small (1.28MB) and a simple application that supports creating disc images in multiple formats (standard ISO, BIN, CUE, NRG and UIF).

Installation

MagicDisc can be downloaded here (1.3MB). Once downloaded, run the installation file and it should install necessary drivers for its ‘virtual mount’. Once done, you should be noticing a new icon the taskbar. The installation part is over.

Working with MagicDisc

If the icon doesn’t appear in the taskbar (near the clock), open the application manually from Start->All Programs\MagicDisc\MagicDisc.

MagicDisc Menu - Taskbar

Insert the Disc you want to make an ISO of. Right-click the icon in the taskbar and choose ‘Make CD/DVD Image’

MagicDisc - Make ISO - window

Select the Source CD/DVD drive and enter the output file name. Select an output format and click OK, and done!

ISO and BIN are common image formats. NRG is a proprietary Image Format by Nero and UIF is Universal Image Format. The choice is yours, but ISO is the most supported one.

MagicDisc should start making an image of your disc. You’ll be prompted once the process is over.
